In another of our series of conversations with mothers about their child’s first ever spanking, we talk to Helen, a mother of one boy, who hails from the South East of England.
Although I’d had the occasional smack from my mother and father when I was a little girl, I was never really formally spanked by them, as far as I can remember, so it didn’t really ever occur to me to use corporal punishment when I became a mother myself – I considered smacking old-fashioned and rather brutal. So my son Jay went all of seven years without me laying a finger on him.
