It might sound a bit arrogant to say this, but I was generally a very well-behaved child. Of course, I could be naughty like any other little boy, but generally speaking, only quite mild punishments were needed by my parents to keep me in line.
I grew up in the late 90s, by which time smacking had become a lot less frequent punishment for children than the preceding decades. I think I got a quick slap or two when I was very little but I really don’t remember it if I did. My most common punishment was to be sent to bed – I certainly can’t remember getting a formal over-the-knee spanking from either Mum or Dad.
