Aunt Lisa takes charge

When I was 14, my parents went to Turkey for three months during the summer in connection with my father’s business. I was left with my grandmother, who had arthritis and could not get around very well.

On two evenings, she found that I had invaded the liquor cabinet from my uncertain walk and breath but said nothing at the time except: “This is not something I am likely to forget, young man.”
