When I was 10 years old, I was sent to a boys boarding school in Georgia run by a group of nuns. My parents had divorced, my mother had remarried and I don’t believe my stepfather wanted me around.
I was not a bad kid, but not an angel either and my mother and stepfather had decided that I needed a stricter environment. I resisted and pleaded that I not be sent to this schoo, but my mother was persistent. I found out from my mother that the boys were paddled if they misbehaved and that scared me more than anything else. Anyway, I lost the argument and was soon off to my new school.
