I was brought up in a small town in the north of Scotland with my two sisters. From time to time, we all suffered the embarrassment of a smacked bottom from our caring mother – it was an accepted way of life.
Mum often threatened spankings, which normally brought around the necessary behaviour change, which in turn made the threatened spanking unnecessary. However if we continued acting ‘foolishly’ the threats were carried out, the spankings administered and the children punished.
