I’m young enough to be considered part of the ‘politically correct’ era when spanking and other forms of corporal punishment are frowned upon by the general public – at least openly! But I suspect that I was not the only child of the past few years to be soundly spanked when it was necessary! Since I’m now 21, I can share my stories with you.
My parents both firmly believed in ‘spare the rod and spoil the child’. They had several levels of punishment and discipline, and corporal punishment was the ‘last straw’. As an only child, I was a little bit spoiled and indulged, perhaps. But I was also taught manners and consideration for others. When I crossed the line and was naughty, depending upon my ‘crime’, my parents didn’t hesitate to dole out the punishment. They were loving and fair, though.
