Drinking it all in

My sister and I grew up in in a home where discipline was the rule, not the exception. Though neither of our parents was reluctant to hand out punishment when warranted, our mother was the head villain, primarily because she was at home all the time.

When we were small, minor infractions meant a stay in the corner, or time alone in our rooms. As we grew older, these methods were replaced by loss of privileges, such as cutting off our allowances, or grounding.
