Balcony scene

Having grown up in the South, my brothers, sisters and I were raised by going to church religiously every Sunday with my mother and father (if he was not away on business). I can recall a particular Sunday where I learned the hard way about the importance of church.

My best friend Sarah and I were 11 at the time and we decided that we didn’t want to go to Sunday school this particular morning. Instead, we would sit up in the balcony of our church where we could look down into the congregation. The balcony was rarely used, except for those occasions where there were special events at the church.
