I grew up in the late 1970s and 80s, in a rather atypical family for the time. I was one of six kids, and in those days, society was drifting away from having large families.
Another thing which was on the way out was the use of corporal punishment for raising children – but that was not the case in our house. Indeed, almost every family in our rural community still kept their children in line by spanking their bottoms.
