Many of you have been kind enough to ask for some information about my own background, and whether I was subject to corporal punishment as a child – which indeed I was. Here is just one such story.
I was in my fourth year of primary school, so I would be eight rising nine. Without wishing to sound too boastful, I was quite a gifted child, with a good aptitude for many subjects. But I was – and remain to this day – somewhat lazy by nature.
