Growing up, our Mom and Dad believed that a few well-timed swats on the seat was the fastest way to deal with rude or unruly behavior. It wasn’t a big deal. We were happy and well loved, although if we got into mischief, we knew we’d soon be over someone’s lap getting our bottoms paddled – but not harshly and always followed by a hug afterward.
