Despite a firm warning from my twin brother, whom I let in on the secret, I decided to forge my mom’s signature on that slip. As I saw it, I had no interest in being spanked again (which I almost certainly would be) and the school wouldn’t pay that much attention to detail anyway. In my very best cursive script, I forged my mom’s signature and tucked the offending article away in my book bag.
