I think I got the odd light smack when I was a toddler, but from the time I started school I can’t remember receiving corporal punishment from either of my parents. But that all changed one day when I was nine.
This was the late 80s, by the way, so the lack of spanking was by then no means unusual, although I knew that at least a couple of my closest friends had been across the parental lap a few times.
