A singular magazine, part II

Maman continues its review of correspondence to the Englishwoman’s Domestic Magazine, a Victorian publication which had a particular fascination with the subject of disciplining children.

As we have already seen, there was no shortage of correspondents who enthusiastically supported the use of slipper, cane and birch on young bottoms. But that view met with more opposition than one might think for the time.
