At the time of this interview, French single mother Anne-Laure was 27 and living on the outskirts of Lyon with her two children, a boy of seven and a little girl aged three. Although France has since banned the spanking of children, at the time of this interview, in the late 90s, it was very much permitted and still fairly common.
