Paddling, back in my school days, was a very common punishment – and it wasn’t always strictly recorded, either. My first and only experience of it was at six years old, back in the late 1980s, at a school in the Southern US.
My particular ‘crime’ was running in the corridors. Like most schools, this was a well-known and enforced rule. All us kids knew the rule, and that we could expect to be punished if we disobeyed.
