I grew up in the late 1960s, when spanking was very common. I have a brother and sister who are both older than I am, and my father was always the one to administer the spankings.
On one occasion, my father had to leave on a business trip and would not be home for the whole weekend. On Saturday afternoon, I was really bored because my brother and sister had gone out with their friends. I was too young to do the same, because i was only eight. I was mad but got over it really fast. My mom was in the garden and I decided that I wanted to help her.
While trying to plant, I was spilling all the dirt. My mom told me to knock it off or I was ‘gonna get it’. However, I continued playing with the dirt and eventually, my mom came over, stood me up and smacked my butt as a warning. It didn’t hurt, and she knew that.
I decided to move on to something new. My mom was digging the holes and I was putting the flowers in. It was all going well until I broke one of the flowers. My mom wasn’t mad – but I was and didn’t even realise what I said next. I threw down the plant and said: “F***!”
Well, my mom was furious. She took me by the arm and led me into the bathroom, where I got my mouth washed out with soap.
I was also made to take a bath, which I did not want to do, so I argued. Mom got me undressed, washed me, dried me off then took me to my room, where she took off the towel, grabbed my arm and threw me over her knee. I got about 25 hard spanks.
Mom asked where I heard that word and I told her from my sister and brother – who also got a spanking that day, but with a paddle. I was very sore and did not know my mom could spank like that.
That night, she came to give me a kiss goodnight but noticed I had not cleaned my room as she had told me to – so back over her knee I went, and I got about 15 more spanks.
The next night, my father came home and was very disappointed in me – he put me across his knee for a spanking with the paddle. I never used that word again!
